Joint Base Andrews, Maryland–Justice finally served in the National Capital Region (Military District of Washington), where an Air Force Colonel had been fighting for his freedom and future for years, after a bad breakup with his ex-wife.
The Defense was a sight to see as the team of defense lawyers, paralegal, and defense investigator teamed up with some of the top experts in their fields to litigate against the Office of Special Trial Counsel’s best and brightest prosecutors.
This was the same case that garnered national news media attention when the alleged victim claimed the military was covering up for a wife-beater in the ranks. Her media campaign got her an unprecedented personal audience with the Secretary of the Air Force, and the Air Force’s head lawyer, The Judge Advocate General, prior to the colonel being removed from his command and placed under the command of a hand-picked (and alleged victim-lawyer approved) convening authority. However, the defense team brought a giant spotlight to that issue, leading the historic Unlawful Command Influence litigation, where for the first time ever, a sitting Service Secretary was ordered to testify.
At the end of the day, the client was finally exonerated and able to move on with his life, retiring after decades of exemplary service to his country.
